Imagine your world without sound? Unable to hear anything anyone says to you, your name, your family telling you that they love you, simple instructions, the TV, the radio, an alarm, a favorite toy and the list goes on...This has been Sam's world since he was born. Sam is two years old and was found to be "profoundly deaf" in the new year of 2010. Sam has been blessed with the technology of a Cochlear Implant, we call it "Sam's Special Ear". Now it's switched on and along side lots of listening therapy, it has given Sam access to sound and the ability to join the hearing world. Take a look around our website, read our story, get regular updates about Sam's progress, learn what a Cochlear Implant is and how they work. As parents who want to offer our child the best possible chance in life, we have decided to give Sam a Second Cochlear Implant to enable him to
have the best possible access to sound. To do this, we have to
raise a large amount of money to cover the costs of the Second
Implant (in New Zealand only 1 implant is funded).
We want to reach out to you, offer you the chance to learn about Cochlear Implants, and give you the opportunity to be part of our journey. You can help us to achieve our goal for Sam by helping to provide him with another "Special Ear".
